New York State Assemblyman Brian Curran recognized Village of East Rockaway Trustee Stephanie Paul as one of the newest Women of Distinction, joining the ranks of trailblazers from around New York State.

Mayor Gordon Fox, Deputy Mayor Bruno Romano, and Trustee Anthony J. Santino were joined by Elaine Phillips, Nassau County Comptroller and Congressman Anthony D'Esposito to congratulations their colleague in government.

Assemblyman Curran recognized local women whose commitment to community go above and beyond the call of civic engagement and outreach.

Trustee Paul is the current President of the East Rockaway Kiwanis Club, a community organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, where she also leads the group’s children’s reading & craft program held in conjunction with the Nassau County Police Department. She also heads the organization’s annual Police Officer Appreciation dinner.

Standing in the shadow of sacred steel from the World Trade Center site which rests in our park in perpetuity, neighbors reflected on the lives and memories of 12 neighbors killed on September 11, 2001 in the terrorist attacks, as well as those survivors we know, and the first responders who ran into danger and helped without asking questions.

As Mayor Gordon Fox reminded us, we will #NeverForget the sadness of September 11, 2001 or how it changed us forever. 🇺🇸

Mayor Gordon Fox, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, joined a bipartisan group of elected officials and representatives from other villages in Mineola to welcome the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to Nassau County.

T2T Chairman & CEO Frank Siller announced that the 501(c)3 national not-for-profit Foundation will commence an exciting project - building its newest Veterans Village in nearby Island Park at the site of the dilapidated Long Beach Motor Inn. The multi-million dollar project will provide permanent affordable housing, wraparound supportive services including healthcare & rehabilitation, job placement & entrepreneurial development, to veterans in our who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own.
