Mayor Gordon Fox retired as Director of Finance for the Town of Hempstead, responsible for the Division of Purchasing, as well as assisting in the budget review. He was instrumental in instituting a number of programs that have either reduced expenses or increased revenue for the Town. He was a member of the Senior Steering Committee, responsible for implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning system to replace the legacy computer processing capabilities of the Town.
Prior to his position in the Town of Hempstead, Gordon worked 50 years in the financial industry, and was the Vice President of Emerging Products for Broadridge Financial Service, a $2.5 Billion dollar company. He was recruited to establish a Tax Managed Services business to augment services provided to the financial community by Broadridge. Before he retired he established a revenue stream of $20 million dollars in recurring revenue from 24 financial institutions including Wells Fargo, Barclays Bank, ETrade and HSBC Bank.
Before joining Broadridge, he served as President of Beta Systems, a Thompson Reuters Company. He led a $200 million dollar division, with over 600 employees and operations in New York, London, Hong Kong, Bangalore, San Francisco and Brookfield WI. Beta Systems provided financial institutions a comprehensive suite of Information Technology products to handle every aspect of managing the daily tasks for their brokerage business.
His 50 years of management experience has spanned responsibilities over areas of Information Technology, Accounting and Finance, Human Relations, Legal, Compliance and Regulatory responsibilities.
Gordon is a graduate of Skidmore College with a BS in Business Management, Kingsborough College with an AAS, with honors, in Management, the Warton School, University of Pennsylvania – Securities Industry Institute and the New York Institute of Finance.
He has been an active member of the Village community, being a member of the East Rockaway Kiwanis Club, East Rockaway American Legion and East Rockaway VFW. Gordon is also a member of Lynbrook’s Elks Lodge #1. Gordon is a US Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Vietnam conflict and is a member of the Lynbrook Detachment of the US Marine Corps League. His past affiliations include: Served as Deputy Mayor, Member – East Rockaway Zoning Board, Vice President East Rockaway Board of Education, past President and one of the founding members of the East Rockaway Educational Foundation. Gordon also coached several teams for the East Rockaway/Lynbrook Soccer club and East Rockaway CYO baseball.
Gordon and his wife Bernadette have been married for 42 years, they have three children and seven grandchildren.
