About the Frank M. Pignataro Recreation Center

The Frank M. Pignataro Recreation Center is named in memory of East Rockaway’s legendary Recreation Director who served our community in that capacity from 1992 to 2004.

Frank was a beloved member of the East Rockaway community. A cherished husband, father of six, and grandfather of eleven, he also created the P.A.L.S. program for special needs adults, initiated our local flag football program, assisted with implementation of the East Rockaway Little League, CYO and Recreation Basketball programs during his tenure. Mr. Pignataro also implemented many joint programs between the PAL, CYO and East Rockaway Recreation as he worked each day side by side the East Rockaway and St. Raymond’s Schools. Frank was a dedicated and admired American military veteran and community leader. He was president of the St Raymond’s School Board in addition to a member of Knights of Columbus and honorary member of East Rockaway Fire Department Hose Co. #1.

In Frank also served golden aged East Rockaway neighbors as Village Senior Center director, a position he held until his untimely passing in 2016, where he organized activities, trips, and many of the programs that helped re-shape the East Rockaway Senior Program.
