The Village of East Rockaway is proud of our East Rockaway Fire Department volunteers for lending mutual aid last week to Orange County departments fighting the wildfires in the Lower Hudson Valley - assisting many of the same departments who came to our community's aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

ICYMI: Mayor Gordon Fox & Chief Shane Vesce announced that the Village of East Rockaway and the East Rockaway Fire Department began relieving the burden on taxpayers & sustaining critical emergency services by harnessing the recently enacted New York State EMS Cost Recovery Act as of November 1, 2024. ERFD is now billing insurance companies directly for ambulance services utilized, ensuring that taxpayers are not the sole financiers of these crucial emergency response costs.

The Village of East Rockaway’s Veterans Day ceremony at Memorial Park brought neighbors, veterans, and community stakeholders together to honor those who served our nation in uniform, willing to pay the ultimate price to defend our freedom and liberties.

Mayor Gordon Fox and the village board welcomed the Robert F. Garrison VFW Post #3350 and the East Rockaway American Legion as the colors were posted, and both members’ service and sacrifice recognized.

The outpouring of support from neighbors reflected the gratitude and deep respect that the entire #EastRockaway community holds for our veterans. The ceremony was a poignant reminder of the lasting impact that these courageous men & women have on our lives and freedoms.

Village of East Rockaway Trustees Stephanie Paul & Anthony J. Santino were joined by Senator Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick to see families enjoy this interactive, hands-on-event that allows children to climb on, explore and discover their favorite trucks and vehicles. The Village DPW was glad to send one of their vehicles for our kids to explore!

New York State Assemblyman Brian Curran recognized Village of East Rockaway Trustee Stephanie Paul as one of the newest Women of Distinction, joining the ranks of trailblazers from around New York State.

Mayor Gordon Fox, Deputy Mayor Bruno Romano, and Trustee Anthony J. Santino were joined by Elaine Phillips, Nassau County Comptroller and Congressman Anthony D'Esposito to congratulations their colleague in government.

Assemblyman Curran recognized local women whose commitment to community go above and beyond the call of civic engagement and outreach.

Trustee Paul is the current President of the East Rockaway Kiwanis Club, a community organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, where she also leads the group’s children’s reading & craft program held in conjunction with the Nassau County Police Department. She also heads the organization’s annual Police Officer Appreciation dinner.
